Erica Rita Perk (Schneider)

Erica Rita Perk was born in the small town of Eztiken, Switzerland. Erica was a spirited child, but despite her Swiss surroundings couldn’t yodel a note. She was the eldest of 7 Children. Forever wanting to explore she Immigrated to Canada as a young woman. She fondly remembers her boat journey where she danced across the Atlantic and met her life-long friend, Ida. Once she landed in Canada, Erica knew this would become her new home.

She met her husband Manfred Perk in Toronto. They bought a farm in Ida, Ontario where they raised 5 children, Fred, Caroline (Dennis), Jeanette (Tor), Monica, and Mark. Grandmother to Veronica, Stephanie, Sonia, and Julia. A devoted, loving, caring Mom and Grandma. Erica was a woman of deep faith, volunteering in the Catholic Women’s League of Canada, where she acted as Diocesan President. Countless hours spent sewing, knitting, baking, and fund-raising events. All undertaken with the spirit of faith and community. Always accepting and opening her home and heart to anyone that was in need. Erica passed peacefully at Headwaters Health Care in Orangeville on August 24, 2022.

A Visitation will take place Friday, September 2 from 4PM to 6PM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass Will be held Saturday, September 3 at 11AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church
