Francine Edith Saunders

Francine Edith Saunders passed away peacefully with her family and her two best friends by her side at Northumberland Hills Hospital in Cobourg, Ontario on January 9, 2023 at age 60. Francine was the loving mother of sons Kyle (Kat), Cory and the late James and the cherished daughter of Gilberte and the late Jack. Loved by sisters Michelle (Randy), Nicole and Pauline (Rejean). Proud grandmother of Kiralynne. Lovingly remembered by her bestfriends Jenn and Rachel. 

In 2018, Francine graduated from the Labour Studies Program at McMaster University and then served as the Unifor Human Rights and Equity Representative at General Motors in Oshawa, Ontario. Francine worked tirelessly to protect her fellow workers Human Rights and to foster a workplace that was free of harassment and discrimination. Francine was a Trustee on the Unifor Executive board and was also a Director on the Pathwise Credit Union Board of Directors. In 2019, Francine retired from General Motors after 35 years of dedicated service. She always put the needs of others ahead of herself and truly bettered the world around her.  

Francine had a kind, compassionate heart. She was someone everyone could trust and was loved by many. Francine loved her family dearly and always brought life and positivity to a room. Even at the height of her illness, Francine never stopped smiling as she didn't want to share her pain. Francine will be remembered for her unwavering tenacity, her ability to give more than most and her unconditional love and support. 

Francine had a special bond with animals. She especially loved her horses Marangai, Dazzle and Razzle as well as her other beloved animals Chungus and Gizmo and the late Louis. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Park Funeral Centre 2510 BENSFORT ROAD, PETERBOROUGH ONTARIO on January 28, 2023 from 2PM - 4PM.
