Russell Strang Obituary

STRANG, Russell “Allan” - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Russell Allan Strang at the age of 83 on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Northumberland Hills Hospital with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed by his best friend and beloved wife of 41 years, Audrey (nee Lingard). Allan’s wish was to remain in his home throughout his long illness for as long as possible and thanks to Audrey’s love, dedication and continued care she made this possible. He will fondly be remembered by his children Jean Giroux (Barry), Keith McLean (Debbie), Shelley Storace (Paul) and David McLean (Adriane). Proud and cherished grandfather of Danielle, Steven, Stefanie (Lacey), Daniel (Brianna), Cassandra (Max), Dylan, Kevin, Ben and his 1st great grandchild Ira.

Predeceased by his parents William “Russell” and Nettie Helen (nee Middleton). Allan worked in the cedar lumber industry and started his career with his father Russell. He was the dedicated, proud owner and operator of Strang Cedar Limited for 50 years. Before and after retiring Allan and Audrey spent many happy years travelling throughout Canada and the United States competing in tractor pull competitions where he won many awards. He was extremely proud of his
vintage tractor collection. Throughout his life he loved to take his grandchildren for rides on the tractors and tell them stories of his travels and tractor pull days. He will be greatly missed by all of those who competed at the pulls. Allan loved to play a game of Monopoly or Risk. His objective was to always win and he would never give his opponents a break, even when his grandchildren were at a young age. He taught them all what a strong competitor looked like. There are many memories of these games at the family Christmas celebrations. Allan will always be remembered for his love of a good batch of fudge, homemade butter tarts, very old orange cheese and his favorite carrot cake presented on his birthday.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the G.A.I.N Clinic, Northumberland Community Care, Central East LHIN, and all of his PSW’s for their caring support and exceptional care. A special thanks to Dr. Demaries, Dr. Cornish, Dr. Cameron and all of the nurses on the floors who provided exceptional care during his short stay at Northumberland Hills Hospital. Following Allan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Donations in Allan’s name may be made to the Northumberland Hills Humane Society.
